A mile and a half more

I’m feeling extra excited today, especially after my cardio workout this morning.

I finally decided to decrease my speed, since I have been beating my time, and increase my distance. This morning was a huge success! I ran a mile and a half, then decided to bike for five miles before running another mile. My usual mile, turned into 2.5 miles, yippy!

I cannot express how excited I was at the end of the workout.

My legs, for the first time in weeks, felt good. I’ve been battling shin splints lately, so I have only been running a mile at a time. Last week I only ran four days, instead of my typical five, which probably helped with my run this morning as well.

It always feels good to do more than what you set out to accomplish, way more than what I hoped for. I’m already setting goals in my head for tomorrow.

When we lived in Fort Myers, I always ran two miles a day. So, I of course, want to finally surpass that distance and put some good miles on these running shoes.

I’m glad I decided to start running all those years ago, although I haven’t been consistent throughout that time, I’m excited to be at it again now. There is just something about lacing up your running shoes, putting on some good music and letting everything else go. It’s almost as if I enter another world, one that is only focused on the now. My thoughts always become clearer while my heart beats a little faster. No matter what I am stressed out about that day, a run always cures those feelings, always pushes them aside and gives me a positive outlook on the situation at hand.

IMG_271809577749490The best part about all this is Jason has offered to run with me. After we move from our apartment next weekend, I won’t have access to the clubhouse’s gym. I’ve researched gyms around the area and am hesitant on joining any of them. Jason always encourages me to go for a run somewhere, which I should, but always find it easier to hit the gym and run on the treadmill. So in an effort to get me outdoors yet again, as well as save some money by not joining a gym, he offered to go running with me. This is huge! Although I always like running by myself, since it gives me that “me” time, I’m having second thoughts. It would just be another way for Jason and I to spend time together. I can only imagine what type of encouragement we would give each other . . . more new achievements would be made.

Today, I can feel it, is going to be another great day. How could it not be after a workout like that one?

Second all time best

I love running, I really do!

Instead of working for a while and then hitting the gym, I went as soon as I woke up. I think that made a world of a difference. I may just have to go to my old routine – exercise early in the morning.

I am 11 seconds from my all time best run. I guess running five times a week is really improving my speed a lot faster than I anticipated. It’s encouraging to see personal progress, no matter how little it may be.

There is something rejuvenating about running. It releases so much.

I am ready to tackle the day and start crossing off articles on my to do list.

Left behind

Some days can definitely get the best of me …

Before Jason left for work he left me with a message before he kissed me goodbye, one that grabbed a hold of me. I had to make things happen. He has a way of encouraging me to make the best of everything.

So I decided to make some time for me, some time doing what I love …

I laced up my running shoes and tackled some cardio. My hope while walking to the gym was for some, if not all, of my stress to fade away … I also wanted my cloudy world, caused by awful allergies, to clear again.

Mission accomplished!!

I turned on Pandora and put on a station I knew would get me motivated. As the music flowed through my ears, I picked up my speed as I let go of each ounce of stress that grabbed a hold of me today. It’s amazing, as my worries flew off my back my run became a little easier. I improved once again.

I then stepped onto the elliptical and began my workout … and accomplished more personal bests. I love setting goals for myself, especially when I meet them every time I workout.

My shoulders feel lighter after that workout. Once again I left all my stress and worry at the gym on those machines that made me work up quite a sweat.

My cloudy world also became a little clearer, so now I can get back to my desk and work on more articles.

Going strong

Today marked the end of the third week since I started exercising on a regular basis again.

I love this feeling, I love continuously pushing my body to the limit and then some. When you’re drenched in sweat you know you had a good workout.

I’m finally in a routine once again. I gave myself a set schedule. Tuesday through Saturday I hit the gym for my cardio workout (a run and time on the elliptical) and Sunday and Monday Jason and I hit the trails for some hiking.

I’m slowly seeing a change in myself – the weight is slowly shedding off – and I feel much better now that I’m exercising on a regular basis. I have always been a strong believer that you need to make time just for yourself – what better way to spend that time than exercising.

Today I ended on a great note. I shed some more time off my run, making it the best time I have ran in three weeks. I’m slowly getting back to the time I once ran, which makes me happy.

The best part is I’m starting to look forward to time spent on the elliptical. It’s getting a little easier and I’m staying on for a longer amount of time. Yep, I’m making improvements, a little at a time.

I’m on top of the world … I’m definitely glowing and always smiling and exercising is only adding to that overall happiness.

Phenomenal workout

I have to say after getting back into working out full force last week and going hiking two days in a row, my workout today was pretty incredible.

Last week I ran and did the elliptical five days in a row and then went hiking Sunday and Monday with Jason. Every muscle in my legs felt the burn during our hike, especially my calves. There were times that Jason was way ahead of my on the trails and there were other times we were right behind each other.

Instead of taking today off, I pushed through and ran my best mile since starting again after taking more than a month off. I even increased my distance on the elliptical, as well as my time. I know my body needs a rest, but I’m loving all of this activity.

It’s time to get fit again, it’s time to be active all the time.

I love running because it’s a personal challenge. You can go at your own pace and accomplish your own goals. No matter if it was my best time, I still feel incredible when I finish for the simple reason that I laced up my shoes and attempted another run.

I’m so glad running is a part of my life again. I’m liking the elliptical too, to finish off a cardio workout with that, wow, really makes you feel like you did something.

Well my breaks over, now back to some freelance writing and editing.

Feeling fantastic

Today’s my third day in a row at the gym, which is a huge accomplishment considering how I let it go by the wayside for too long.

I’m feeling fantastic … and my body is thanking me for the exercise.

My running has improved everyday, as well as my time. It’s truly amazing how quickly your body can fall out of shape if you stop training on a regular basis. It feels wonderful to be running again. I find that I am pushing myself to its limits again, trying to better my workout from the day before. I love the challenge, it only increases my excitement of working out the next day.

I have also included the elliptical in my workout, as well, this go around. That machine has always got the best of me, which I am determined to change. It really works you out, which I’m starting to love. I decided to start with just one mile this week every day. Next week I will increase the distance and hopefully my time.

I have also thrown the stationary bike into my routine, so to say my body is getting a good cardio workout is an understatement.

I have to say I love working from home again doing a ton of freelance work. It’s nice having my own schedule, so I can workout again.

Finally

After taking way too much time off, I finally went back to the clubhouse and worked out. Boy did it feel wonderful.

I first rode the bike, only because someone else was on the treadmill. It felt good, really good to pick up my speed and get my heart pumping again.
My run, although not as fast as previous workouts, was a good start to what I hope becomes my routine again.

Now that I am only doing freelance writing again, I have more opportunities to make working out a part of my daily routine. That thought alone makes me excited!

I feel rejuvenated, what a great workout. Now time to clean the house and dive into writing and interviewing people for my articles.
